Terms of Use
Last updated 19 June 2026
The short version
Buy a license, use AwakeMate on your Macs, don’t share your key or resell the app. It’s provided “as is”, it prevents idle sleep only, and our liability is limited to what you paid. Try it free for 14 days before you buy.
1. Your license
When you purchase AwakeMate, we grant you a personal, worldwide, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to install and use the app on Macs that you own or control, for your own personal or internal business use. The license is a one-time purchase for the version line you bought; it does not expire on a fixed date.
2. License keys
Your license key is personal to you. You agree not to sell, sublicense, publish, or share your key, and not to use keys you didn’t lawfully obtain. We may deactivate keys that are shared publicly, charged back, or used in violation of these Terms.
3. Free trial
AwakeMate offers a 14-day free trial so you can evaluate it fully before paying. After the trial, a valid license is required to continue using the paid features. We may change trial length or availability for future customers.
4. Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- reverse engineer, decompile, or disassemble the app, except to the limited extent that applicable law expressly permits despite this restriction;
- copy, redistribute, rent, lease, or resell the app;
- remove or alter any copyright, trademark, or other proprietary notices;
- use the app in any unlawful way or to circumvent licensing.
5. What AwakeMate does - and doesn’t do
AwakeMate holds a standard macOS power assertion to prevent idle sleep while you choose, or while watched tools are running. It does not override forced sleep, a closed lid, critical-battery shutdown, or thermal events, and it never changes your saved energy settings.
6. Updates
The app may check for and install signed updates to improve and secure it. Updates are provided under these Terms unless they come with their own terms.
7. Intellectual property
AwakeMate, the site, and their content are owned by Fil Technology and protected by intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant you a license to use the app, not ownership of it. AwakeMate includes third-party open-source components, each governed by its own license; those licenses continue to apply to those components.
8. Disclaimer of warranties
The app and site are provided “as is” and “as available”, without warranties of any kind, whether express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement. We do not warrant that the app will be uninterrupted, error-free, or that it will prevent sleep in every circumstance. You are responsible for backing up your data. Some jurisdictions don’t allow certain warranty exclusions, so parts of this section may not apply to you.
9. Limitation of liability
To the maximum extent permitted by law, Fil Technology will not be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages, or for any loss of data, work, profits, or time, arising out of or related to your use of (or inability to use) the app or site. To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you actually paid for the app in the 12 months before the claim. Nothing in these Terms limits liability that cannot be limited under applicable law.
10. Refunds
Purchases are covered by our Refund Policy, which forms part of these Terms.
11. Termination
These Terms apply for as long as you use the app. Your license ends automatically if you materially breach these Terms. You may stop using AwakeMate at any time. Sections that by their nature should survive termination (such as intellectual property, disclaimers, and limitation of liability) will survive.
12. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the country in which Fil Technology is established, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. This does not deprive you of the mandatory consumer-protection rights you have under the laws of the country where you live, which continue to apply.
13. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms as the product changes. We’ll update the “last updated” date above; continued use after changes means you accept the updated Terms.
