The short version
AwakeMate is private by default. The app collects nothing - no personal data, no analytics, no telemetry. It keeps your Mac awake and detects tools entirely on your device. This site sets no cookies and runs no trackers.
What we collect from the app
Nothing. AwakeMate does not collect, store, or transmit any personal data, usage analytics, or telemetry.
Local processing
To support automatic mode, AwakeMate periodically reads the list of processes running on your Mac and looks at their short process names to see whether a watched tool (such as node or python) is active.
- This happens entirely on your device.
- By default we read only process names - never command-line arguments, file paths, environment variables, window contents, or any document or terminal data.
- If you turn on the optional Deep CLI detection setting, AwakeMate additionally reads the file name of the script an interpreter (such as
nodeorpython) is running - for example to recognise aclaudeorcodexCLI launched through Node. It reads only that single file name, never the full path or other arguments, and this stays off unless you enable it. - The information is used only in memory to decide whether to keep the Mac awake. It is never written to disk by us, never logged off-device, and never transmitted anywhere.
Settings storage
Your preferences (automatic mode, selected tools, “keep display awake”, and similar) are stored locally on your Mac using the standard macOS preferences system (UserDefaults). They never leave your device.
Network activity
AwakeMate keeps the Mac awake and detects tools entirely locally and does not transmit anything on its own. The limited network activity that can occur is:
- License activation. When you activate a license key, the app contacts our licensing service to verify it. This involves your license key and basic technical request data (such as your IP address) needed to validate and protect the license.
- Software updates. The app can check for and download signed updates (via Sparkle) from our update feed. Like any download, the server and its CDN can see standard request data such as your IP address and app version.
- Support links you open. The Contact, Feedback, Feature-ideas, and Report-a-bug items open hosted web forms (provided by AppMate) in your browser. Anything you type into those forms is submitted to that hosted service on our behalf; the app itself sends nothing automatically.
This website
awakemate.app is a static marketing site hosted by Vercel. It sets no cookies and includes no analytics or third-party trackers. Our hosting provider automatically processes standard server logs (such as IP address and user agent) to deliver the site and protect it from abuse. When you make a purchase, you’ll be handed off to our payment provider, whose own privacy policy governs that checkout.
Service providers
We rely on a small number of providers strictly to run the product: hosting and content delivery (Vercel), our payment processor (for purchases and license issuance), software-update delivery (Sparkle update feed and CDN), and hosted support forms (AppMate). Each processes only what’s necessary for its function.
Your rights
Because the app collects nothing and the site holds no account, there is normally no personal data of yours for us to access or delete. If you’ve emailed us or made a purchase, you may ask us about the limited records tied to that (for example, your order or support correspondence), and you may request access, correction, or deletion subject to applicable law. Email fil@fil.technology.
Children
AwakeMate is a developer utility and is not directed to children. We do not knowingly collect information from children.
Changes
We may update this policy as the product evolves. We’ll revise the “last updated” date above, and material changes will be reflected here.
